You will need:
- Artificial flowers
- Decorative filling
- Glue gun
- Dental floss
- Ribbon of your choice
- Styrofoam ball
- Decorative ornament
- Flower vase
1. Pour the filler into the vase.
For the filler, you can use anything from sand to rocks, to shells, to basically anything that you think will look nice with your flowers. Pour as much as your filler into the base as you would like!
2. Prepare your decorative ornaments.
Make sure that your decorative ornament looks nice from all angles. I chose these butterfly clips because they fit perfectly with my spring theme. So what I’m gonna do is to take them apart and essentially glue them back to back so while dangling they look nice from all angles.
Glue the dental floss onto the center clip of the ornament. Depending on what you’re using as your ornament you can also tie the floss on instead of gluing it.
Cut the extra antenna off the butterfly.
3. Attaching the Ribbon.
The next step is to take your ribbon of choice. I chose this rustic looking ribbons. Cut off enough of the ribbon to wrap around the top of your vase a couple of times.
Wrap around the ribbon to the neck of the vase. Once you have the perfect amount of ribbon, you’re gonna start by gluing just one end to the vase and wrap the rest of the ribbon around it as many times as it goes. Then glue the other end as well. You don’t wanna glue on the entire ribbon, just the two ends.
4. Foam Ball
Take your foam ball and fit it into the opening of the vase.
Figure where the center of the foam ball is to hang the ornament. Play around figuring out the links to the stream. You’ll need to assure that your ornament hangs from the center of the vase.
Start gluing the floss onto the flat part. Make sure that your ornament hangs in the center. Be sure to wrap the floss around the foam and glue it to the center of the rounded part as well.
Glue and secure the foam ball into the opening of the vase. Before adding any flowers to the vase take your glue gun and secure the foam ball into the opening of the vase.
Make sure the seam of the ribbon is placed at the back.
5. Flower Preparation
Next, remove the ties of the flowers and separate the bundles. While the glue dries you can begin to work on your flowers.
Remove the plastic by using scissors, and try not to cut the wire.
Next, take a pair of pliers and trim off any stems and unwanted leaves.
6. Flower Arrangement
Add the flowers by piercing the stem wires into the foam. This part can take a while but try to be patient and have fun because it really brings the whole project together.
And you’re done!
