Follow these easy steps to achieve a chic decoration for your celebration
The 4th of July is already upon us. It’s really a time where we pay tribute to those who have fallen, and honor those who continue to sacrifice their lives so we may keep our freedom. But you don’t have to spend a fortune in order to show your patriotism and appreciation. In this article, we will show you how to make patriotic floral arrangement for your 4th of July decorations.
You can just visit the nearest Dollar Tree in your area and purchase the necessary materials for our DIY craft.
Here are the materials for your 4th of July decorations:
Six clear plastic bowls at $1.00 each
30 or more plastic flowers, depending on your needs
Step 1: Take all the flowers from the stem
Being that the dollar-a-piece flowers are so brittle, you can actually do this without using the scissors. Just pull out each of the flower and separate it from the stem.
Step 2: Stack a bowl on top of the other
The bowls that you use may not be similar to the ones above. You can choose an entirely different design, but the idea is to fashion a round shape which will serve as the base for your 4th of July floral decoration. Also make sure the bowls exactly match each other in size.
Step 3: Glue the flowers onto the bowls
This is the tricky part as you really need a lot of patience to make sure there are no gaps in between the flowers. Make sure to put the glue on the bowl first before sticking the flower’s receptacle onto the material. Once you get your rhythm, it becomes easier later on to cover the bowls with the petals.
Step 4: Bond the bowls together
You need an industrial adhesive for this one, to make sure the two bowls really stick together. For this project, E6000 was used. If there’s a line or gap in between the two bowls, just glue more flowers in there for a seamless 4th of July floral decoration.
Step 5: Repeat the process with the other bowls
After you have covered all six bowls, the finished product should look like this. You have the three colors of the American flag: the red, white, and blue.
Step 6: Apply glue on the candlesticks
You can either use industrial adhesive, or just the glue gun to attach the floral bowls onto the candlesticks. For practical purposes, it’s advisable to use the glue gun so you can still use the candlesticks in addition to your 4th of July decoration. Make sure each of the globes are properly secured.
Step 7: Enjoy your 4th of July decorations
There you have it! Your very own contribution to the holiday; of course, this is just an example of some of the 4th of July decorations that you can create on your own. If you have the budget, you can even swap the plastic flowers that you buy from Dollar Tree with real ones. As mentioned before, the candlesticks are completely recyclable so you can actually spend more on them compared with your other materials.
